The Iowa Brass is pleased to announce its 12th annual Young Artists Competitions.  One high school winner and one collegiate winner of the competition will appear as a featured soloist during the Iowa Brass concert on Sunday, May 4, 2025 and will receive a cash prize of $500!

2025 Competition Eligibility:
The collegiate competition is open to all undergraduate brass and percussion musicians enrolled during the 2024-2025 academic year. The high school competition is open to all high school brass and percussion musicians enrolled during the 2024-2025 academic year.

Application Guidelines:
Applicants must select a solo work of their choosing. Piano accompaniment is required unless the piece is written for an unaccompanied soloist.  Contestants must complete the online application form at iowabrass.com by Tuesday, April 1, 2025.

Audition Video Submission
Applicants must submit a video recording of their performance in its entirety without video cuts/edits and must be accompanied by piano or ‘smart’ accompaniment.  We have a maximum time limit of 8 minutes for high school submissions and 10 minutes for collegiate.  Video performances must be submitted by digital video file. Once you have recorded your video, upload the file to a Google Drive and email that link to David Lang at indeeband@gmail.com. Make sure your “Share” settings are set to: “Anyone with the link”. If you don't have a Google Drive, you may send an unlisted YouTube link (mark the link as unlisted after you upload so only those with the link can find it and view it). Videos are due no later than Tuesday, April 1, 2025. Contact David Lang for guidance on video submission issues.

Winners Selected:
Winners and runners-up will be notified by Monday, April 7, 2025.

If selected as a winner, in order to receive the $500 prize, you must perform your solo with piano accompaniment (unless the piece is written as unaccompanied) at our Iowa Brass Concert in Solon, Iowa on Sunday, May 4, 2025, 4:00 PM.
 

2025 Competition Timeline: 

• Audition materials must be completed online by Tuesday, April 1, 2025

• Winners and runners-up will be notified on or before Monday, April 7, 2025

• Winner announced on IOWABRASS.COM by Monday, April 7, 2025

• Concert performance with the Iowa Brass on Sunday, May 4, 2025
